CT Brain Tumor Alliance Fundraiser in Honor of Leigh Evans Courage Award

Leigh Evans

Leigh Evans

This past February our mom, Leigh Evans, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The news was shocking and scary for all of us because of how advanced the tumor was at the time of discovery and how little was known about the rare type of tumor she was up against: a solitary fibrous tumor. The following months were a rollercoaster as Leigh bravely battled surgeries and radiation treatment. Thankfully and miraculously, six months later, Leigh’s prognosis is excellent, and she continues to be the force of nature we all know and love.

When she sets her mind to something, whether it be helping her patients, teaching students, mentoring colleagues, or crushing her kids in a board game, she conquers it with determination and grace. Her ability to face this challenge was no different, and we were constantly inspired by the courage, candor, and humor she brought to the incredible physical and emotional hurdles she faced. As it turns out, we are not the only ones inspired and in awe of Leigh’s bravery in the face of adversity. We are proud to share that the Connecticut Brain Tumor Alliance (“CTBTA”) has chosen Leigh as the deserved recipient of their June Rice Courage Award! The CTBTA is a wonderful organization dedicated to providing hope and support to brain tumor patients and caregivers, while advancing brain tumor awareness, quality of care, and brain tumor research through fundraising.

Leigh is so grateful for the medical professionals, colleagues, and friends who have supported her throughout this trying year. Thank you for your support of our family this year. We are forever grateful.

All our best,
Leigh’s children

Ali, Jess, Spencer, Scout, and Ben
