My 2025 Path of Hope Fundraising Page

Chris Cusano

In 2008, my life changed forever when I was diagnosed with a central neurocytoma, a rare, benign brain tumor. What followed were five brain surgeries and a stereotactic radiosurgery. Thanks to extraordinary medical care, the support of loved ones and sheer determination, I made a full recovery. Not everyone facing a brain tumor has the same outcome, and that reality is what continues to drive me.

This year, I’m honored to serve as a co-captain of Team Cusano alongside Sofia Rose, whose journey powerfully reflects the strength and resilience of this community. In 2009, Sofia was diagnosed with a Juvenile Pilocytic Astrocytoma and underwent three brain surgeries over the course of three years—two in 2009 and one in 2012. Those years were incredibly challenging for her and her family, but they also revealed the true power of hope, perseverance, and community. We are thrilled to share that Sofia’s most recent MRI in 2025 was stable, marking 13 years in remission.

Today, as CEO of the Connecticut Brain Tumor Alliance, I see firsthand the strength, resilience and unmet needs of patients and families across Connecticut. I am honored CTBTA provides critical support services, raises awareness, and invests in research to improve outcomes and quality of life for those affected by brain tumors.

Your donation, no matter the size, helps ensure that patients and families never face this journey alone. Thank you for supporting CTBTA, for honoring survivors, for remembering those we’ve lost, and for helping bring hope to the brain tumor community.
